Members of Redemption can be nominated to serve on the Leadership Team. All nominees will be interviewed by our Nominating Committee and those selected will be presented to the congregation to be voted into the role for the 2022-2024 term.
CONSIDERATIONS WHEN NOMINATING
1. CALLING
Calling can be experienced internally and identified externally. A candidate should desire to serve and should demonstrate the skills necessary to provide spiritual oversight to the church with integrity.
2. CHARACTER
We cannot fairly expect or demand perfection from one another, but as a leader a man or woman ought to live an exemplary life, modeling in a consistent way the character of Christ. 1 Timothy 3:8-13 and Titus 1:5-9 offer a summary of the character qualifications of leaders in the church.
3. COMPETENCY
God has called leaders in the church to serve in a variety of ways. While recognizing that many interpretations of biblical leadership structures are utilized, to determine the responsibilities of what Redemption calls our "Leadership Team", one can look to the biblical office of an "Elder/Overseer." Therefore, nominees;
i) should be able to equip and care for people spiritually,
ii) should be familiar with the Bible and be able to teach it,
iii) should be comfortable praying with people in need.
4. COMPATIBILITY
Leaders should demonstrate conviction regarding Redemption's Core Values and dedication to our mission and vision.
5. COMPREHENSION
Nominees must be members of Redemption who understand and accept Redemption's convictions regarding theology and church governance. This involves commitment to the Bible’s authority, to Redemption's constitutional and policy provisions, and submission to our denominational leadership.
